What AI designer does

AI designer adds two image tools to the customer Studio: AI artwork, which creates original artwork from the customer's description, and AI upscale, which makes a sharper, larger copy of an uploaded image. Both run on your store's own OpenAI account, so OpenAI bills that account for every picture and upscale. The fee your customers pay for them is set on the same Settings screen.

Before you save the key

   In the OpenAI dashboard, complete organisation verification for the organisation that owns the key.

2. 2.2

   Open that project's rate limits and check that the image model Total Print Hub uses (gpt-image-2) has a request allowance above zero. A new organisation or a low usage tier can show no allowance for image models.

3. 2.3

   Create an API key in that project.

Save the key and switch AI designer on

1. 3.1

   In Total Print Hub, open Settings > AI designer.

2. 3.2

   Paste the key into OpenAI API key and choose Save AI designer settings. The key is encrypted and never shown again.

3. 3.3

   Read the line beside OpenAI API key: "OpenAI accepts its image requests" means the key is ready.

4. 3.4

   Choose the processing region and set Data approval to Approved.

5. 3.5

   Switch AI designer in Studio on and save again.

What the check tells you

When you save a key, Total Print Hub checks that the key reaches the image model and that OpenAI accepts image requests from its organisation. The check asks OpenAI for no picture, so it creates no image. AI designer cannot be switched on until OpenAI accepts the key's image requests, so customers never see an AI tool that cannot work.

• "OpenAI refused image requests for this key": the organisation is not verified, or the project has no image allowance. Fix both in the OpenAI dashboard, then paste the key again.
• "OpenAI requires the organisation behind this key to be verified": complete organisation verification, then paste the key again.
• "The OpenAI account for this key has no credit left for image requests": add credit in the OpenAI dashboard, then paste the key again.
• "This saved OpenAI key has not been checked for image requests yet": the key was saved before this check existed. Paste it again.
